Most of the fish species are endemic to the South Eastern Cape and occur nowhere else in the world. Raggertooth and Smooth Hound sharks are frequently seen and other residents include Red roman, Musselcracker, Blacktail, Zebra, Juvenile, Poenskop, Steepies, as well as Sand sharks and Eaglerays.

Power boating requires permits and, due to the conservation of Nature's Valley, is only permitted in Plettenberg Bay and Knysna. All powerboats must remain 300 metres away from whales.
